School is almost back in session, and with fall on its way, the big community events are gathering steam. Smoke on the Bricks is this weekend, so downtown is closed to traffic and parking beginning Friday, August 9, at 6am through 6pm on Saturday, August 10.
Next weekend, August 16th, is the 3rd Friday Market for August. If you haven’t attended a 3rd Friday Market yet this year, this is your chance! The weather is looking to be surprisingly cool for August and it’s a great time with a few dozen vendors, live music, art, and a movie. Oh, and the City will have an information booth at the Market, so stop by and ask a question or say hi!
2024 Road Maintenance Project to begin the end of August
Harbour Construction has submitted a tentative project start of the end of August for the west side chip and seal project. This work will cover the west side of town including Orchard Lane, Indiana and Jersey Streets, side roads on the west side of 11th Street, 10th Street, a portion of Elm Street, Main, College, a portion of Lawrence Street, South Street, Elk Horn Drive, Bison Court, and Mustang Drive. The highlighted portions of the map below will be chip and sealed this year.

Utility bill rate increase on July 2024 usage
Electric rates on kilowatt hour usage for residential customers are going from $0.1154 per kilowatt hour to .1212 beginning July 1st, and increasing to $0.1273 on October 1, 2024. The formula has also changed in how the Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) is determined.
